Levels of care
When weekly sessions are not enough
Outpatient therapy is not enough for everyone, and that is not a failure. These are the usual steps, from least to most support.
Weekly outpatient care
Sessions with a therapist and, often, a dietitian and a doctor, while you live at home. This is what Poise offers.
Intensive outpatient
Several hours of treatment on a few days each week, while you live at home.
Day programs
Most of the day on most weekdays, at a program, with evenings and nights at home.
Residential or hospital care
You stay at a program or a hospital, with medical staff, when your health needs close attention.
When you need medical care first
Chest pain, fainting, a very slow or uneven heartbeat, confusion, or being unable to keep fluids down call for an emergency room or 911, not an appointment. Tell any doctor or emergency team about your eating.
If you may need a higher level of care
Dr. Gallegos will tell you plainly if an intensive, day or residential program might help, and will help you look. She stays in touch with you through the move if you want her to.
This practice is not an emergency service
We do not monitor messages around the clock. Messages sent through this website are read on weekdays. If you need help now, use the lines above.
